A Glimpse
A Glimpse is a series of 50 watercolor cards created during my time studying abroad in Provence, France, a visual diary that captures the quiet poetry of everyday life. Each 5"x5” painting records a small moment of delight: an unexpected detail, a beautiful form, a fleeting texture that sparked joy and wonder.
This body of work reflects a practice of intentional observation. I was particularly drawn to the overlooked ephemera of daily life, food packaging, product labels, handwritten signage, tiny souvenirs, all the tactile remnants of experience that root us in place. These fragments, though humble, held a deep charm. They embodied the rhythm, color, and spirit of Provence in a way that felt both immediate and enduring.
Executed in watercolor, the series embraces spontaneity and imperfection, allowing gesture and color to mirror the lightness and vibrancy of the region. Through this intimate practice, A Glimpse became more than a collection of images; it became a meditation on presence, memory, and the joy of finding beauty in the most unassuming corners of the world.
